Albertina Walker Scholarship Benefit Concert

By Gregory Gay - On August 30, 2010, the Queen of Gospel, the late Dr. Albertina Walker presented her annual Birthday Concert benefiting the Albertina Walker Scholarship Foundation for the Creative and Performing Arts.  Although Dr. Walker wasn’t present due to illness, the concert went on as planned and many of her friends and fellow gospel music comrades came out in support of this endeavor.  The AWSF has been awarding scholarships since its inception in 1998. What a great legacy that included so many great musicians and vocalists.  I was introduced in the south via radio to the Caravans and have not allowed their music to leave my soul.  I am searching for Caravan music now.  Thanks and do keep up the great traditions of Gospel Music
