Karen Clark Sheard in Chicago for The Experience

Grammy Award winner and Detroit native, Karen Clark Sheard, brought her “All In One” promotional tour to the Gospel Music capital of the world on April 6th, appearing at the DuSable Museum for Dedry Jones’ 50th “The Experience” event. Karen covered all the bases including a performance of her latest single “Prayed Up” on the Chicago ABC affiliate’s 11:00 a.m. newscast. “All in One” is a family affair as the CD is produced by Karen’s son and is the second project released on the KaRew label imprint, a joint venture between Karen and her husband and business partner, Bishop J. Drew Sheard. Whatever KaRew is doing, it is paying off. “Prayed Up” is #20 on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs Chart and the CD debuted at #3 on the Billboard Gospel Chart.

The Many Hats of Smokie Norful

As if preaching, singing, having your own record label and production outfit, husband, father, and spiritual leader weren’t enough, Pastor Smokie Norful has a new title to add to his ever growing list, that of restaurateur. Norful and his wife Carla recently opened a restaurant called Annette’s, capitalizing on “Home-style Southern Style Cooking” in the Bolingbrook area outside of Chicago. Pastor Norful is overjoyed with the debut release of his church choir project “Smokie Norful Presents: Victory Cathedral Choir” which landed at #4 on the Billboard Gospel Chart (right behind Karen Clark Sheard).
